HIS GRACE FOUNDATION

I first became acquainted with HIS GRACE FOUNDATION (HGF) a few years ago when my grandson, Will had a bone marrow transplant. This organization helped ease the strain that any family would go through under those circumstances. The family is usually in-patient for around 2-3 months, so the need for help is great. HGF’s focus is on the Bone Marrow Transplant Floor of Texas Children Hospital in Houston, Texas.

HGF greets each new patient on the floor with a welcome basket that includes everything from toys and snacks for the patient to parking cards, telephone cards, and other necessary items for the parents. While on the floor, HGF continues to help the family by sitting with the patient so the parents can take a break to sit down dinners so the parents can have a “date night” and provides many other services to the families.

This year, I hope to bring awareness to the group through fund-raising and by inviting Val Anderson, the director of HGF, to attend our conventions. We raised $250 and donated PA bears to HGF at out Houston convention in September 2008. Please visit with Val and participate in the fundraising activities at the Annual Primary care Convention in Dallas, February 27-March 1, 2009.
